Steve Davis joined Chick Corea's Origin in 1997 and continued to work alongside the legendary Multi-Grammy winning pianist / composer in several settings for the next twenty-two years, including Spain (1999) with the London Philharmonic and The Continents (2012) featuring quintet and chamber orchestra. During 2019, Steve appeared on Chick's Spanish Heart Band album Antidote which won a Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album. Chick & SpHB toured Europe that summer.

“Steve is one of the greatest Trombone Players in the world. He expresses things on the trombone that people don’t usually play on that instrument.”— Freddie Hubbard (2007)

“Steve can create the effect of a string section or brass section, playing some of the most melodic improvisations ever heard in jazz.”— Chick Corea (2001)

“Steve Davis is one of my favorite trombone players of all time. I like his sound, I like the way he writes. He is a very special musician.”–Jackie McLean (1998)

Chick Corea on Dave Kline: "I love your musical universe...it's so fresh and creative." "Man, you've created an amazing amount of fresh new music - for one CD! I was interested and entertained the whole way through. Wonderful, man!”

“If Down Beat was doing a piece on Dave Kline they would probably consider him in the ‘beyond’ part of their ‘jazz, blues and beyond’ mantra.” Michael J. West, Washington City Paper

“Shifting Borders leads with a clear message that Kline is all about prodigious music, strong melodies, and infectious rhythms.”— All About Jazz
